This course has been developed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use an Automated External Defibrillation (AED) in an emergency. Early defibrillation and CPR are vital in the chain of survival following a cardiac arrest.

The training will provide learners with the knowledge, skills and confidence to operate the AED swiftly & safely. It is ideal for first aiders wishing to upgrade their skills or anyone who wishes to learn to operate these extremely simple, safe, lifesaving devices.

The content includes;

n  Understand the principles of cardio pulmonary resuscitation

n  Safe use of an AED in line with current national guidelines

n  Demonstrate cardio pulmonary resuscitation techniques in conjunction with AED use

n  Be able to demonstrate post-resuscitation procedures.

n  Maintenance and troubleshooting for AED’s

n  Safety considerations when using an AED
