The HSE “strongly recommends” that first aiders in the workplace attend annul update training. This Annual Update course is designed as an intermediate refresher course within the three-year period for an EFAW/FAW/FAWR course. The course emphasis is on the practical application and concentrates on the core topics of first aid at work.

Candidates will need to bring along to the start of this course their (original not photocopy) current and in date EFAW/FAW certificate and a photo type proof of ID. Those not in possession of both documents will not be permitted to complete the training.

Content: The syllabus of this course is run within the guidance set out in the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and includes;

n  Assess and managing the emergency situation.

n  Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure).

n  Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

n  Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding.

n  Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock.

n  Manage a casualty having a Heart Attack or Stroke
