EYFS Paediatric First Aid 12hr
This course was originally developed and approved by the National Childminding Association (NCMA) and Pre-school Learning Alliance (PLA). It is designed for people caring for children in any setting. It is suitable for au pairs, nannies, childminders, nursery and pre-school workers, sport and leisure staff, crèche leaders, parents and anyone responsible for the welfare of children. It meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Surestart & OFSTED. In-line with the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, it can be used as evidence for an NVQ in childcare and education.
Content: The syllabus of this course includes;
n Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider.
n Be able to assess an emergency situation safely.
n Be able to provide first aid to an infant/child who is unresponsive and breathing normally.
n Be able to provide first aid to an infant/child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally.
n Be able to provide first aid to infant/child who has a foreign body airway obstruction.
n Be able to provide first aid to an infant/child with external bleeding.
n Understand how to provide first aid to an infant/child who is suffering from shock.
n Understand how to provide first aid to an infant/child with anaphylaxis.
n Be able to administer first aid to an infant/child with injuries to bones, joints and muscles.
n Be able to administer first aid to an infant/child with head and spinal injuries.
n Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose.
n Understand how to administer emergency first aid to an infant/child with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness.
n Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing the effects of extreme temperature.
n Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child who has sustained an electric shock.
n Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child with burns or scalds.
n Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child who has been poisoned.
n Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child who has been bitten or stung.
n Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child with minor injuries.
n Understand how to complete records relating to illnesses, injuries and emergencies.
